Follow the below steps for application to secure your spot at AICM and maximise your career in music.

STEP 1 - APPLICATION

Submit an online application form for entry into AICM:

As places are limited, it is advisable to submit an application as early as possible (even if you plan to commence the following year).

Step 2 - AUDITION BOOKING

A Student Services Officer will contact you to confirm your application and to book an audition date/time.

STEP 3 – AUDITION & INTERVIEW

Instrumental/Vocal

The audition will consist of three parts:
• Perform THREE contrasting pieces of music on their chosen instrument.
• Musical knowledge - where the audition panel is unable to verify a satisfactory level of musical knowledge (HSC Music 2 or AMEB Grade 5 Musicianship) a musicianship assessment will be conducted. Those applicants who are unable to demonstrate the required level of musical knowledge may be offered a place in the course, conditional on satisfactory completion of the elective unit, Fundamentals of Music Theory, prior to commencement.
• An interview with the audition panel will allow the applicant to discuss the performance, performance background and professional interests in the music industry.

Additional Information
Piano, keyboard, amps, drum kit, and sound system for backing tracks will be provided. Guitarists should bring their own leads, and drummers their own sticks and brushes. Applicants must provide their own backing track and accompanist if required.

Composition
The audition will consist of three parts:
• Provide a portfolio of THREE examples of original work. Use a standard digital format for recordings. USB stick or CD-ROM with file names is best.
• Satisfactory level of musical knowledge (HSC Music 2 or AMEB Grade 5 Musicianship)
• An interview with the audition panel will discuss your submitted works, composition background and professional interests as a composer.

Overseas and interstate students can submit their audition online or on CD-ROM / DVD / Electronic File.

Please bring with you any relevant academic records, qualifications and/or professional accomplishments (CV) for review.

STEP 4 – ENROLMENT

If your audition is successful, an Offer of Enrolment will be sent to you via post along with an electronic copy via email. Included in the letter will be instructions on how to accept the Offer of Enrolment via the AICM website. By accepting the Offer of Enrolment your place at AICM is secured. We will then send you an orientation pack and invoice for tuition fees (FEE-HELP students excluded). If you are a FEE-HELP student, a FEE-HELP Application Form will be sent to you with your Orientation Pack.
