Focus area - Composition

Are you the one who will create the next musical wave? The AICM composition department will introduce you to a range of composition and songwriting styles, production techniques and music fundamentals that will let you convert idea into sound. Arrange, orchestrate and create music across a variety of
genres. Collaborate with fellow producers, composers and performers and revel in the experience.

ELECTIVES

Arranging & Orchestrating
This will provide students with the knowledge of range, techniques and playing capabilities from orchestral sections, jazz ensemble and choir, as well as the elements and processes of arranging.

Conducting
Students gain the historical, theoretical, analytical knowledge and practical elements of conducting techniques, with a strong focus on actual conducting assessments with various size ensembles.

Jazz/Classical Fusion
Students will create arrangements and compositions that demonstrates their understanding of the key stylistic developments of jazz and how ‘classical’ or ‘art’ music has incorporated those elements of jazz.

Music & Moving Image
Students will develop the ability to classify musical genres within the movie and gaming industry, as well as understanding the logistical challenge of setting music to moving image.
