Focus area - Production
A highly specialized area, production allows AICM students to explore the areas of music production, composition, recording, mixing, songwriting and electronic music. Utilising your technical, musical and creative skills, you will record ensembles and bands, produce finished tracks, develop portfolios and work with online distribution channels. The Production stream will also enable you to work with software to create electronic music compositions. You will be working in both the studio and live environment, to give you the best experience and skills in music recording and production.
By understanding the recording process in both the studio and live environment, students will have the confidence to work and share their ideas with producers and engineers to determine the final product of their recording sessions.
By developing a balance of technical, musical and creative skills students are prepared to produce music for a wide number of performance and media applications. The opportunity to collaborate with performance students on campus allows producers to gain a greater understanding of music depth and nuances.
To work within in the music industry, students will analyse current trends, understand copyright, royalties and digital rights management, appreciate writing and performing original music, learn how major recording labels operate, and incorporate social media for marketing and promotions.
