Student Spotlight on… Anthony Rizzo |
First year student, Anthony Rizzo is one of AICM’s up and coming stars.
With an unwavering passion andlove of music and performance it is easy to be swept up
by his enthusiasm.
I recently sat down with Anthony and here is a little of what I discovered about this
remarkably talented guy...
How he got started in music
Anthony’s love of music started when he was just a small boy. His Grandparents, were a major influence on Anthony,
one giving him his first instrument; a ¾ guitar which Anthony lovingly restored and then taught himself to play.
Encouraged by his family, Anthony joined the primary school choir where he got his first taste of show business,
performing in the Junior School Rock Eisteddfod.
All through his schooling life, Anthony continued to excel in music; Playing in bands, performing solo’s and taking lead roles in musicals including ‘Greece’, ‘Annie’ and ‘Shout’. In Year 10, Anthony travelled to China with his school, Waverly College to perform for the Beijing International School of Music. An experience he remembers fondly from his high school years.
‘Music has always been part of my life, I love the way you can communicate emotions and connect with people.
Music is a language you don’t have to learn to enjoy, it’s universal!’
Life at AICM
Joining AICM this year, Anthony followed his passion and is thriving on the challenges the course presents. When
asked about his highlights so far with AICM, Anthony had a list!
‘Getting up on stage to perform in front of the students for the first time was a little scary, but it turned out to be a
fantastic experience. Having an audience of your peers is a great way to learn and they are super encouraging.
It’s a really supportive environment.’ Anthony said.asked about his highlights so far with AICM, Anthony had a list!
Earlier this year Anthony performed alongside some of AICM's most gifted students at the Sydney Opera House. Anthony commented: ‘Performing at the Opera House was amazing. It was wonderful to be given the opportunity to feel what it’s like to perform at such a prestigious venue.
Anthony also revealed his thoughts on his pop ensemble exam gig at The Bridge Hotel: ‘That was cool! I have never done a live gig like that before. I can’t wait to do it again!
‘I am here because I enjoy music. AICM was a great choice for me, I love the personal approach.’
AICM is proud of what Anthony has achieved during his time here so far, and can’t wait to see what he accomplishes
next!
